Alexandria, Virginia: Town News - St. Patrick's Day Parade this Weekend

Alexandria, Virginia celebrates Saint Patrick’s Day with a day of family fun events, including a classic car show, a dog show and a Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Federal, state, and local elected officials; the Irish Ambassador; military commanders; and other local celebrities will participate in the Alexandria parade. Local scouts, marines and high school bands will also be represented.

Schedule of Events


10 a.m. - Invitational Classic Car Show. North Pitt Street between King & Cameron Sts.

10:30 a.m. - Fun Dog Show. Market Square

12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Parade

Parade Route

The parade starts at Alfred and King Streets and runs along King turning east on Lee Street ending at Cameron Street. See a map of the parade route

Transportation and Parking

Public transportation is suggested due to limited parking in the area. You can take the metro and get off at the King Street stop and walk about 10 blocks to the east or take a DASH bus for a dollar.

February 26, 2012: St. Paul's Annual Meeting

Please join us at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday, February 26, in the Nave for St. Paul's Annual Meeting.

All parish members are encouraged to attend this yearly event to elect parish leaders, conduct the business of the parish, and celebrate our common life.
Starbucks coffee and delicious treats will be served.

Rev. Matthew Hanisian: DC Celebrates Mardi Gras With Annual Pancake Races


Our very own, Rev. Matthew Hanisian, who is now the assistant rector at St. Alban's Parish, poses with his gold-painted syrup bottle trophy after winning a pancake race during the Shrove Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, tradition at the National Cathedral yesterday in Washington, DC. Shrove Tuesday is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of the Christian season of Lent.
