St. Paul's Theology on Tap at O'Connells in Old Town

"Censorship" will be the topic of discussion at Theology on Tap this month.  How do we hold together the tension between freedom of religion and freedom of speech?  We will meet at "O'Connell's" on Sunday, September 30th, following the 5pm service.  Ian Markham will be our presenter.  Mark it down and join us for this timely discussion.  If you have any questions, contact the Rev. Sam Mason.

First Friday/The Dog Days of Fall - October 5

Help us celebrate "The Dog Days of Fall" in honor of our hometown baseball team making it to the playoffs--Go Nats!--and Germany's Oktoberfest, now celebrated in all corners of the globe.

Rocklands BBQ will provide the eats, including some meatless options for the non-carnivores.

WHAT: Cocktail hour, followed by potluck
WHEN: October 5, 6-8 PM

WHERE: Norton Hall, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 228 South Pitt St., (at the corner of Duke St.), Alexandria, VA
YOUR MISSION: Bring yourselves and your favorite beverage (perhaps a thick, brat-worthy stout or a hearty hot dog wine?), an appetizer, salad or dessert. If you're having "that kind of day," simply come. Seriously. We have lots to share.

What about the kids?? Here's the best part--

weeSIT, St. Paul's long-standing babysitting service, takes care of the kids and serves them pizza in Wilmer Hall. Young ones (under age 5) go downstairs, where the preschool classes are held. Older ones go upstairs to the 2nd floor. Babies go to the nursery, also on the 2nd floor.

PLEASE RSVP by Thursday, October 4, to stpaulsfirstfriday@gmail.com -- this is especially important if you are bringing the kids! And remember, we love donations so we can keep First Friday going.

See you October 5!

Join the Intercessor Ministry

With the return to the 11:00 a.m. worship service in a few weeks, we are seeking additional intercessors to offer the Prayers of the People. All that’s needed is a desire to pray for others, a clear speaking voice, and availability to serve at the 11:00 a.m. service from time to time. Please contact Sissy Walker at espwalker@comcast.net if you would like to join the ranks of the Intercessor group. We would love to have you join us!
