Beefeaters Success!

A Note from parishoner, Corinne Marasco:

I am happy to announce that this past Saturday's fundraiser at 1823 for the Renk Basic School was a huge success!! We raised $905, enough to fund 3 students to attend school this academic year.

A good education is easy in Northern Virginia. A good education in Southern Sudan, not so. Without a literate population, it will be difficult for South Sudan to achieve its potential as a democracy. Participation in local and national governance is necessary for developing a democratic society and that can't happen if the people--especially girls and women who have kept the country going through war, famine and genocide--are unable to read and write.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended! I'm grateful for your participation and your generosity.

Join the Intercessor Ministry

With the return to the 11:00 a.m. worship service in a few weeks, we are seeking additional intercessors to offer the Prayers of the People. All that’s needed is a desire to pray for others, a clear speaking voice, and availability to serve at the 11:00 a.m. service from time to time. Please contact Sissy Walker at espwalker@comcast.net if you would like to join the ranks of the Intercessor group. We would love to have you join us!

The Workshop Rotation Model allows for creativity and flexibility for teachers with a lot of really exciting lessons. There are plenty of opportunities to teach and no experience required, please email Ellen at ellen@stpaulsalexandria.com if you are interested in teaching Sunday School beginning in September.

Return of the Catharine wheel Window

As you have probably already noticed, the restoration of the Catharine wheel window is now complete and was reinstalled this week. This was the latest of the window restorations undertaken by the St. Paul’s Foundation, and was completed in honor of John O. von Hemert (12th rector of St. Paul’s) and his wife Toby in recognition of their long and faithful service to our community.  A memorial plaque and service of dedication will happen later this year. The St. Paul’s Foundation wishes to thank all the families who contributed to this effort and invites others to participate in the ongoing work of restoration. To find out how you can help please contact the parish office, 703-549-3312, ext. 21, and speak with Maria Halloran, Stewardship Director.
